The Torres to Manchester United story shows such a complete misunderstanding of the player and the relationship between Liverpool and Manchester United that it is worthy of inclusion in the Bad Sources for that alone. But they have far more form than that. The Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday have taken poor journalism to a whole new level this transfer window. The Metro is a free paper given away in various cities. The stories tend to be strikinglt similar to the previous day’s Evening Standard. It is all recycled. It’s rubbish. Have you read it? Newsnow, but curiously delayed. Setanta have no money to pay for their sporting rights, so they certainly can’t afford a well funded newsroom. Expect the usual Sky Sports rehashing of web rumours as solid news stories. Very dodgy. The Guardian is a British broadsheet newspaper. It takes it’s journalistic integrity very seriously and is fairly reliable. Up until 1959, the paper was called the Manchester Guardian, and is often perceived to have United-tinted spectacles.
